First steps

Create your first project

Create the project that holds your source strings, your languages and every translation of them.

A project holds one set of keys, the source language they are written in, and the target languages you ship. Creating a workspace creates its first project too, so you only need this page for the projects after that, or if you skipped ahead. To create a project from your repository instead, run npx transglot@latest init; see the Quickstart.

Who can do this

Admins of the workspace and Owners of its account. Other roles can open projects but cannot create them.

Start the wizard

Open the workspace and select New project.

Project

Enter the Project name and, under What is it?, a line about the product, such as "Checkout flow for an e-commerce app". This is not decoration: Glossa reads it as context for every translation in the project, so a specific line gets you better translations.

Markets

Pick the Source language, the language your strings are written in today, and the Target languages you want to ship. Languages are named with BCP-47 tags such as en, pt-BR or zh-Hans. See Languages and locales.

Strings

Choose how your strings will arrive: a file, a migration from another tool, or a repository. Then select Create project.

The project is created and you land on its Get started page, which walks you through the rest: bringing your source strings in and running your first AI translation. See Setup steps.

If it doesn't work

  • "Unknown locale: use a BCP-47 tag like de, pt-BR, or zh-Hans.": the language is not a tag transglot recognises. Use the language code, optionally with a region or script.
  • "The account this workspace belongs to has no room for another project on its plan.": the account has as many projects as its plan includes. Free includes one project; paid plans have no project limit. Delete a project or ask an account Owner to upgrade.
  • New project is not offered. You are not an admin of this workspace or an Owner of its account.
