Before you start

  • Add your target languages to the help desk's supported languages first. Freshdesk rejects a translation for a language that is not enabled.
  • Copy your API key from your Freshdesk profile settings. The agent needs read and write access to solutions.

Connect

Open your project's settings, choose CMS, and pick Freshdesk in the CMS list.

FieldWhat to enter
Freshdesk domainOnly the domain, for example acme for acme.freshdesk.com
API keyYour Freshdesk API key

Translatable fieldstitle, description, or both
Publish these localesThe target languages to write back

Select Connect, then Test connection. A successful test names the help desk.

What gets imported

transglot walks your knowledge base (categories, then folders, then articles) and imports each article's title and description in the primary language. The description is the article body.

How translations are written back

For each target language, transglot updates the translated article if it exists and creates it if it does not. Only the title and description are sent, and the primary article is never addressed.

A translated article takes the primary article's status, so a translation is never published ahead of its source: a draft article gets a draft translation. Language codes are converted to Freshdesk's form, so pt_BR in transglot is published as pt-BR.

Troubleshooting

  • ... the translation language is not enabled on this help desk. Add the language to the help desk's supported languages, then publish again.
  • ... the credentials were rejected. The API key is wrong, or the agent lacks access to solutions.
  • ... the article or knowledge base was not found. Check Freshdesk domain, and that the article still exists.
  • ... the help desk is rate-limited, retry. Wait and run the sync or publish again.
