PlanStarter and above

Before you start

  • Enable your target languages in your Intercom Help Center settings. Intercom rejects a translation for a locale that is not enabled there, and transglot reports that error rather than hiding it.
  • Create an app in Intercom's developer settings and copy its workspace access token.

Connect

Open your project's settings, choose CMS, and pick Intercom in the CMS list. There is no URL to type.

FieldWhat to enter
Data-hosting regionWhere your workspace is hosted: US, EU or AU
Access tokenThe workspace access token
Content typesarticles, collections, or both
Translatable fieldstitle, description and body for articles; name and description for collections
Publish these localesThe target languages to write back

Select Connect, then Test connection. A successful test names the workspace.

What gets imported

transglot reads each article's title, description and body, and each collection's name and description, as they appear in the default locale.

How translations are written back

Intercom stores translations in each article's translated content, one entry per locale. transglot reads the article, adds or replaces the target locales, and saves only the translated content. Locales and fields transglot does not manage are kept, and the default-locale text is never in the request.

Each new locale on an article takes the article's own author and state, so a translation of a published article is published too. Language codes are converted to Intercom's form, so pt_BR in transglot is published as pt-BR.

Keeping in sync

Run Sync from CMS to pick up new and changed articles. Intercom's own webhooks cannot be verified by transglot's inbound signature check yet, so there is no automatic sync on change.

Troubleshooting

  • ... the credentials were rejected. The access token is wrong or revoked, or the region does not match your workspace.
  • ... the article or help center was not found. Check Data-hosting region, and that the article still exists.
  • ... the workspace is rate-limited, retry. Wait and run the sync or publish again.
  • A locale fails to publish: check the language is enabled in your Help Center settings.
