Connect Prismic

Import the text fields of your Prismic documents into transglot for translation.

Import only

Nothing is written back to Prismic. Its Content API is read only, and its Migration API cannot set the alternate language of an existing document. Take the translations out through the REST API, the transglot CLI or the CDN.

Before you start

Generate a permanent access token in your Prismic repository's API and security settings.

Connect

Open your project's settings, choose CMS, and pick Prismic in the CMS list.

FieldWhat to enter
Prismic repositoryOnly the repository name, for example acme-repo. transglot builds the …cdn.prismic.io address itself
Source localeThe Prismic locale to import from, usually the master language, for example en-us. Leave blank to use your project's source language
Access tokenThe permanent access token
Content typesCustom type API IDs, comma separated
Translatable fieldsTop-level field API IDs, comma separated

Select Connect, then Test connection. A successful test names the repository.

What gets imported

transglot reads the published version of each document of each custom type, in the source locale, and imports the mapped top-level fields:

  • A Key Text field is imported as it is.
  • A Rich Text or Title field is imported as plain text, one line per block. Formatting is not kept.

When a document has a title field, its text becomes the description on the document's keys.

Troubleshooting

  • ... the credentials were rejected. The access token is wrong or revoked.
  • ... the repository or endpoint was not found, check the repository name. Enter only the repository name, not a URL.
  • The Prismic repository did not return a master ref. The repository answered without a master ref (the pointer to its published content), so transglot has nothing to read. Check the repository name.
  • Nothing is imported: check Source locale matches the locale your documents are written in.
