Workspace

Delete a workspace

Start the 30-day countdown that permanently removes a workspace and everything in it, and cancel it if you change your mind.

Who can do this: the Owners of the account that holds the workspace. No workspace role can delete it, Admin included, because it ends the workspace for everyone in it.

Deleting a workspace does not stop billing

The account keeps its plan. If this is the account's last workspace and the account pays for a plan, the card says so before you confirm: the account keeps billing with no workspaces. To stop billing, change the plan or close the account.

Before you start, export anything you need. When the countdown ends, the workspace and every project, translation, usage record and audit entry in it are removed permanently.

Open General settings

Open Settings, choose the Workspace tab, then General.

Start the deletion

Under Delete this workspace, select Delete workspace.

Type the workspace name

Type the workspace's name into the Workspace name box exactly as it is written.

Confirm

Select Delete workspace.

Delete on the workspace's row on the account's Workspaces page takes you to the same card.

What happens next

  • The workspace becomes read-only at once, for 30 days. Every member can still read everything and export, and nobody can change anything. A banner tells everyone in the workspace, because they lose it too.
  • The message reads "Deletion scheduled. Deleting the workspace does not cancel the subscription, so we have emailed you how to cancel it on the billing page."
  • The account's Workspaces page shows the workspace as "Scheduled for deletion on" a date.
  • When the countdown ends, the workspace and everything in it are removed permanently. It cannot be restored after that.

Cancel the deletion

Until the countdown ends, any Owner of the account can select Cancel deletion on the banner. The workspace is writable again straight away, and the message reads "Deletion cancelled. The workspace is no longer read-only."

A cancellation can be refused when the workspace no longer fits the account's plan, for example when the account is on Free and already has its one active workspace. The message names what to upgrade or delete first.

If it doesn't work

  • "Type the workspace name exactly to confirm.": the name must match exactly.
  • You do not see Delete this workspace: you are not an Owner of the account that holds the workspace.
  • Every change is refused during the countdown: that is the read-only state, not a fault.
