What maintainers ask before they apply.

Is Transglot free for open source projects?

Yes. A project under an OSI approved licence with a public repository can apply for a granted plan carrying the Team feature set at no cost: 1,000,000 words a month, unlimited projects, unlimited languages per project and unlimited seats.

Who qualifies for the open source plan?

An OSI approved licence and a public repository. That is the whole test. Nothing else qualifies you and nothing else rules you out, and a person reads every application.

Can I just pick the open source plan at checkout?

No. It has no price and it never appears in checkout. Apply on this page, and on approval we move your organization onto it.

How long does approval take?

We read applications by hand and reply to the address you give us. There is no published turnaround, so we are not going to invent one. If you have not heard back, write to us.

Do you clone or scan my repository?

No. The URL you give us is stored so a person can open it in their own browser. Our servers never fetch it.

Does the grant include the API, the CLI and the GitHub Action?

Yes, along with signed webhooks and the 12 published webhook events. You can run pulls, pushes and translation runs from your own CI exactly like a paying team.

What is the README badge?

A public, cacheable SVG that reads "your project: N languages". It is off by default, turned on per project, cached for 300 seconds, and shows nothing about the repository except the language count you chose to publish.

What happens if my project goes past the word allowance?

Nothing breaks and nothing bills. A granted plan has no overage meter, so it stops at 1,000,000 words a month rather than invoicing past it. Write to us and we will look at the numbers together.

Is Transglot itself open source?

No. The platform is hosted by us, it is not open source, and there is no self-host path today. What is free is the grant: a public repository with an OSI approved licence runs on the Team feature set at no cost.
