Change your plan
Subscribe, move up or down a plan, or switch between monthly and annual billing for the whole account.
Who can do this: the Owners and Billing members of the account. Some changes take an Owner: moving to Free, and any change that would delete workspaces or stop single sign-on, SCIM or the audit log in a workspace that uses it.
Open Plan & billing
Open Settings, choose the Account tab, then Plan & billing.
Pick a plan
Under Where you sit, select the plan you want. "Picking a row here changes nothing on its own: the one action underneath says exactly what it will do."
Choose how you pay
Turn Pay annually on or off. Annual billing shows how much it saves.
Apply a promo code (optional)
If you have one, enter it under Promo code before you continue. See Apply a promo code.
Take the action
Select the action under the plans: Upgrade, Switch plan or Downgrade to Free. For Enterprise it is Book a call. Read the confirmation, then confirm.
Subscribing for the first time
When the account has no subscription yet, Upgrade first asks Before you go to payment for the Company or billing name ("Invoices are addressed to this name."). Select Continue to payment to pay on the secure checkout page. Back on Plan & billing, the page reads "Payment received. The plan changes when Stripe confirms it."
If the account is eligible for a free trial, the plan starts as a trial and the Plan card shows when it ends. Start followed by the plan's name, for example Start Team now, ends the trial early: the card on file is charged today, and the plan's allowance opens once the payment goes through.
Moving between paid plans
| Change | When it applies |
|---|---|
| A higher plan, or monthly to annual on the same plan | Now. "You are charged today, prorated to the day, and the unused part of your current plan is credited." |
| A lower plan, or annual to monthly | Now, if this cycle's words fit the lower plan's allowance. Otherwise at the end of the period: "This cycle has already used or started" more words than the lower plan includes. |
Features the new plan does not include stop when the change applies. Check before you move down: an integration that needs the higher plan stops, and a project setting that needs it (such as quality mode) turns off.
The plan changes only after the payment goes through. If your bank needs to confirm the payment, the page shows A change waiting for payment with Finish payment and Cancel pending change. Cancelling it voids the invoice it waits on, and nothing is charged.
Moving to Free
Downgrade to Free cancels the subscription at the end of the period you have paid for. See What happens if I cancel?.
Enterprise
Enterprise is not bought at checkout. Its row offers Book a call, and the Contact sales card describes it: "A word commitment instead of a cycle allowance, single sign-on and directory provisioning, an audit export, your logo and product name on the quality scorecard you hand to customers, and a contract your legal team can read."
If it doesn't work
- "... does not fit what this account holds: ... Remove the excess, then change plan.": the account has more seats, projects or languages than the lower plan allows. Remove the excess first.
- "Only an account owner can cancel the subscription: ...": ask one of the Owners it names.
- "This change deletes workspaces after the grace, so an account owner makes it: ..." or "This change stops single sign-on, SCIM or the audit log in a workspace that uses it, so an account owner makes it: ...": ask one of the Owners it names.
- "Update the card on file first. Plan changes are paused while a payment is outstanding.": fix the payment, then try again. See Invoices and payment.
- "This subscription is already set to end at the close of the billing period.": you have already moved to Free. To stay on your plan, select Cancel scheduled change.
- "Your card was declined. Nothing changed.": update the card in the payment portal and try again.
