Billing and plans

The open source plan

Apply for the free plan for open-source projects, what it includes, and how it differs from a paid plan.

Who can apply: the maintainers of a project with an OSI-approved licence and a public repository.

The open source plan gives an account the Team feature set at no cost. It has no price and never appears at checkout: a person reads each application, and transglot moves the account onto the plan when it is approved.

What it includes

  • The Team plan's features, including AI translation, the glossary, quality mode, in-context editing and CDN publishing.
  • The API, the CLI, the GitHub Action and webhooks.
  • Unlimited projects, languages and seats.
  • One workspace.
  • A monthly word allowance that is a hard stop rather than a meter, so the plan can never produce a bill. Usage-based billing is not available on it.

The allowance and the full terms are on transglot.ai/oss.

Set up your account

Create your account and the workspace for your project, if you have not already. The plan covers one workspace.

Open the application form

Go to transglot.ai/oss and find Tell us about the project.

Fill in the four fields

Enter the Repository URL (public, and https), choose the Licence, give a Contact email ("Where the decision goes.") and describe What does the project do? in up to 2,000 characters.

Submit

Select Submit application. The page confirms "Your application is in."

What happens next

Applications are read by hand, and the decision goes to the contact email you gave. There is no published turnaround. The repository URL is stored for a person to read and is never fetched by transglot's servers.

When the application is approved, the account's Plan & billing page reads "Open source plan, approved" with the date, followed by "One workspace, no card."

Things to know

  • One workspace. The plan covers a single workspace. Moving that workspace to another account ends the account's open source plan, so ask support to move the grant instead.
  • Subscribing ends the grant. If you choose a paid plan on Plan & billing, the confirmation warns that subscribing ends the plan transglot provides.
  • The README badge. You can show a badge with your project's published language count in your repository. See Add a progress badge to your README.
